In yet another major haul of drugs, the sleuths belonging to Counter Intelligence (CI) Wing of Punjab Police have recovered 12 Kg heroin and arrested two drug smugglers.
Lakhbir Singh, AIG CI Wing while divulging the details, said that following the inputs, a naka was laid near Qile Wala Chowk on Hussainiwala border road during which two drug smugglers identified as Gurbinder Singh alias Binder and Kulwant Singh alias Kanta, both residents of Mallian Village in Tarn Taran district were apprehended.
(SUBHEAD)The AIG said that both the accused were nabbed while they were coming back after receiving a consignment on their car (Swift Dezire/ PB 18 8998). “During the checking of the car, 16 packets of heroin weighing 12 kg were recovered”, said AIG Lakhbir.
“In 2014, Gurbinder was booked under NDPS case following the recovery of 16 kg heroin at Goindwal police station in Tarn Taran district (FIR No. 93 Dated 29.06.14) besides he had been booked in an Arms Act case. The other accused Kulwant had also been booked in a case under NDPS Act in 2018”, said AIG adding that further investigations are on to find out more people involved in this module and more arrests are expected in coming days.
A case FIR No. 35 dated 11-10-2023 has been registered under sections 21(C) and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station SSOC Fazilka.
Earlier on September 9, the CI wing sleuths had recovered 15 kg heroin and had arrested one smuggler. On July 23, twenty Kg heroin was recovered while on August 6, the sleuths belonging to CI Wing recovered 77 kg heroin two separate operations carried within 24 hours and had also apprehended four drug smugglers in these cases. On August 21 also, 30 kg heroin was recovered during a joint operation of CI Wing and BSF near Gatti Mathar Village.
