ANGANWADI WORKERS PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN CREATING HEALTHY SOCIETY: DR. BALJIT KAUR

Anganwadi workers play an important role in creating a healthy society as they are providing nutritious food and disease prevention to the child from birth to adulthood. These views were expressed by the Minister of Social Security, Women and Child Development Dr. Baljit Kaur while addressing the State Level Poshan Maah function organized at Giani Diti Singh Auditorium of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College. She said that the Punjab Government is working day and night to strengthen the foundation of society with women empowerment so that women can be given due respect.
The Cabinet Minister said that in today's society, women have come forward in every field. She said that the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has laid great emphasis on women empowerment and for the first time in the history of Punjab, five thousand Anganwadi workers and helpers were recruited on the merit basis.
On this occasion, Special Principal Secretary of Social Security, Women and Child Development Department, Raji P. Shrivastava informed that the Punjab government has opened Sakhi One Stop Centres in every district for the rights of malnourished children, anemic children, women victims of domestic violence so that women can get a safe environment in the society.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Parneet Shergill expressed that various activities were conducted by the Department of Children and Women and Child Development during Poshan Maah in which Anganwadi workers rendered commendable services. On this occasion, a drama was presented about the facilities provided in the Anganwadi centres and the girls also presented a martial art for self-defense. Dr. Baljit Kaur also performed the adoption ceremony of 21 women who became mothers for the first time.

Rupinder Singh Happy, SSP Dr. Ravjot Grewal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (R) Isha Singal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Surinder Singh Dhaliwal, Assistant Commissioner (R) Abhishek Sharma, District Planning Committee Chairman Ajay Singh Libra, Market Committee Chairman of Sirhind, Gurwinder Singh Dhillon, Market Committee Chanarthal Kalan Chairman Rashpinder Singh Raja, Aam Aadmi Party General Secretary Amarinder Singh Mandofal, Punjab Women Commission Deputy Director Amarjit Singh Kore, District Program Officer Mr. Gurmeet Singh, District Child Protection Officer Harbhajan Singh Mehmi, Apart from Social Security Officer Jobandeep Kaur, Navdeep Singh Navi, Manav, Satish Lator, a large number of officers, employees and other dignitaries of Department of Social Security Women and Child Development were present.
ACHIEVED 6TH POSITION IN POSHAN MAAH FOR EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE OF PUNJAB STATE: DR. BALJIT KAUR

Poshan Maah is observed throughout all districts of Punjab during September with the primary goal of reducing malnutrition, anemia, and low birth weight among children. As per the daily report issued by the Government of India, Punjab has achieved the 6th rank for its exceptional performance during Poshan Maah.
The Minister of Social Security, Women, and Child Development stated that Poshan Maah is a Government initiative aimed at raising awareness about nutrition's significance and fostering healthy eating habits in the people. The primary objectives include spreading awareness about nutrition's importance, promoting the consumption of nutritious food, reducing malnutrition among women and children, encouraging breastfeeding and providing nutritional services and supplements.

PRAYER MEET FOR PROF. B.C. VERMA ON OCTOBER 1
The prayers meet, in memory of the eminent educationist and Chemistry Professor Mr. B.C. Verma, will be held October 1 at Mata Mansa Devi Complex, Panchkula between 2 and 3 pm.
Prof. B.C. Verma, the father of Punjab Chief Secretary Anurag Verma, passed away on September 19 at the age of 89. Prof. Verma was born on April 2, 1934 in Chalela village of Patiala district. He served as a Chemistry Professor at Government Mahindra College, Patiala. After his tenure as the Principal of Government College Patti and Government Sports College Jalandhar, he retired as Deputy Director of DPI (Colleges).
Prof. B.C. Verma's wife Kaushalya was also a teacher and one of his sons Mr. Anurag Verma currently serving as the Chief Secretary of Punjab. His other son Ashish Verma is an Advocate.
