VB NABS PSPCL JUNIOR ENGINEER WHILE ACCEPTING BRIBE OF RS 5K

Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Monday nabbed PSPCL Junior Engineer (JE), Satnam Singh, posted at Sri Muktsar Sahib while accepting a bribe of Rs 5000.

An official spokesperson said that Gurbhej Singh resident of Sri Muktsar Sahib, who owns a bus company namely Darvesh Bus Service Company lodged a complaint that his company's bus hit the electricity poles near Adesh Hospital, which led to damage of two poles. Despite the complainant having installed new electricity poles with the help of a private contractor of the PSPCL, the accused JE was demanding Rs 8000 as a bribe to resolve the issue and not initiate any action against him. The deal was fixed at Rs 5000.

After preliminary investigation of the complaint, the spokesperson said that a team of VB laid a trap and arrested the JE Satnam Singh while accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 from the complainant in the presence of official witnesses.

In this regard, an FIR has been registered against Satnam Singh at Police Station VB, Bathinda Range. Further investigations are under progress, he added.
