With water levels returning to normal, life in border villages ravaged by floods is springing to normalcy with road connectivity being restored gradually – road connection from Kawanwali Pul to 5 villages has been restored.

(SUBHEAD)Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal, who has been on the ground ever since floods started, said that Rs. 27.26 lacs were distributed to those who faced damages to their houses and animals. Timely disbursal of this amount to all the needy is my priority, as I have seen on ground how people had to endure during these tough times, the DC further said pointing out that the full force of the administration is working diligently to ensure relief and assistance to all.

Outflow of 1,41,381 cusecs of water from Hussainiwala Headworks is taking place which is less than 50 percent of what it was before, as a result of which flood impact is decreasing and road connectivity is increasing in villages Bhaini Ram Singh, Jhangar Bhaini, Chak Ruhela, Teja Ruhela, and Mahatam Nagar.

The DC said residents of 16 numbering about 17 thousand in 4979 houses have been affected directly or indirectly. With danger levels going down, NDRF teams have also returned.Girdawari work of crops also started.
