TAX DEPTT CONDUCTS SPECIAL CHECKING AT MANDI GOBINDGARH, TAKES ACTION AGAINST 101 VEHICLES

HOLDS SPECIAL INSPECTION OF VEHICLES CARRYING IRON SCRAP

On the orders of Punjab Finance, Planning, Excise and Taxation Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema, Excise and Taxation department on Wednesday conducted a special checking campaign in Mandi Gobindgarh. During this checking, action was taken against 101 vehicles for not carrying the required documents.

(MOREPIC1)  Giving information in this regard, a spokesperson of the Excise and Taxation Department said that the teams of the State Intelligence and Preventive Units of the Department were formed for conducting this campaign by the Financial Commissioner (Tax) Mr. Vikas Pratap and Tax Commissioner Mr. Arshdeep Singh Thind. He said that during this campaign, vehicles carrying iron scrap and finished goods were specially checked.

Divulging further, the spokesperson said that the most of the vehicles against which action has been taken did not have e-way bill related to the goods being transported. He said that during data mining, purchases from such irregular parties have been detected, by whom taxes have not been deposited in the government treasury. He said that these vehicles are likely to be fined more than Rs 1 crore after a complete investigation.

Meanwhile, the Excise and Taxation Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that the information regarding GST evasion by some firms and trucks was being received repeatedly from various sources. He said that special checking was conducted by the department acting on this information. He said that while the tax department is committed to provide all possible facilities to the honest taxpayers, such actions by the tax department against the tax evaders will continue in the future as well.
