Read in:English

Face2News/Abohar.

The Independence Day celebrations in Abohar this time were marked with different political scenarios.

(MOREPIC1) Mayor Vimal Thatai hoisted the tri-color at a function held in the Municipal Corporation complex and also joined the Independence Day celebrations organised by the local unit of BJP at Sumer Maidan. He was felicitated by senior party activists. Not only he, but many other loyalists of the Jakhar family were also present. The mayor garlanded the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar in the Ghanta Ghar chowk on the occasion.

Thatai along with 46 other councilors had joined BJP on the maiden visit of state party president Sunil Jakhar to his hometown after taking the new organizational responsibility.

With this, Congress strength in the MC, has nosedived from 49 to 2 while the SAD has only one councilor in the corporation that got Rank-1 in the past Swachhta Survekshan among the corporations in the state.
