RS 21 CRORE FOR ABOHAR, 19.5 CRORE FOR FAZILKA RAILWAY STATION REDEVELOPMENT

The Ministry of Railways has sanctioned Rs 21.10 crore for Abohar and Rs 19.5 crore for Fazilka to re-develop the stations.

At a function at Abohar station, soon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stone of the works to be done at 508 stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Municipal Corporation Mayor Vimal Thatai unveiled the curtains was plaques in English and Punjabi amidst the applause of the audience. Ambala Railway Division Sr DEE/TRD Ankur Jain and Bathinda Area Officer Harmeet Singh were present.

(SUBHEAD)Earlier MLA Sandeep Jakhar was welcomed by Station Superintendent D.N. Goyal and Secretary of Northern Railway Employees Union Ravinder Dubey. Jakhar said that on behalf of the residents of Abohar he thanked Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allotting huge amounts for the redevelopment of the local station.

Mayor Vimal Thatai said that Rs 40.60 crore has been allocated for two railway stations in district Fazilka due to the efforts of former MP and now BJP state chief Sunil Jakhar who had in the past arrange Rs 10 crore for the steel bridge and Rs 17.5 crore for the over bridge on Abohar Hanumangarh road.

The students of Kilkari International School, Mother Teresa School and Divine Light School presented a cultural programme. Some meritorious students were honored. Naib Tehsildar Avinash Chander was also present. Consumer Movement chief Satpal Khariwal said that for the first time such a wonderful program has been organized at the railway station here.
