Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Monday nabbed a Patwari Harbans Lal posted at Revenue Halqa Nurmahal in Jalandhar district for taking Rs 1500 for the village map, of which actual government fee is Rs 80 only.
(MOREPIC1) An official spokesperson of the VB said that Narinder Singh resident of village Ramewal had filed a complaint on Anti Corruption Action Line “9501 200 200” on 30-06-2023 that his maternal uncle needed a village map so he along with his maternal uncle approached the Patwari on 23-06-2023 but the Patwari asked them to come on June 26. When they went to the office of the Patwari on June 26, he took Rs 1500 for the village map, while, the government fee to avail the map is Rs 80 only.
After preliminary investigation of the complaint, the spokesperson said that a VB team today arrested the accused Patwari Harbans Lal after registering an FIR no 19 dated 24-07-2023 under section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act at Police Station VB, Jalandhar Range.
