NGO BEAUTIFIES STATE HIGHWAY

Raj Sadosh/Abohar.

This was another good and pleasant Saturday morning for passersby finding Apna Abohar Apni Abha volunteers cleaning pavements attached to the footpath on the state highway better known as Abohar-Hanumangarh Road.

(MOREPIC1)  The volunteers assembled at about 6.30 am and started work in the presence of MLA Sandeep Jakhar and Municipal Corporation Mayor Vimal Thatai.

Jakhar said, “We planted 300 bougainvillea plants on the road divider, happy to find that the 200 saplings that were planted during the last camp have taken roots.

We are trying to give back to society that had supported us with open hearts to take ahead the campaign. People look awakened by and large as they put dry and wet waste in the hand-pulled rehris/rickshaws that the local corporation had arranged for door-to-door collection. We expect people to do their bit more and avoid single use plastic that has been harming the water disposal system.”
