Former Cabinet Minister and BJP State Vice President, Balbir Singh Sidhu alleged CM & AAP's Cabinet Ministers for utilising the flood situation for Self-Publicity drama and Social Media likes. He stated that CM is engrossed in playing flood politics with the Center and neighbouring states but forgot to issue any directions on damage assessment. Sidhu said that the need of the hour is to direct DCs and Senior officers to make arrangements for draining flood water, assess the damages and ensure immediate compensation at war footing.
Water logging in several regions has caused frightening scenarios and put life on hold for more than a week, Sidhu said. Sidhu said loss of lives, houses, livestock and crops have given a setback to Punjab and no concrete has been taken by the government to reduce the effect of the situation.
(MOREPIC1) (SUBHEAD)Sidhu said that CM Bhagwant Mann, including cabinet is incompetent to handle such critical situations, that is the reason he is diverting blame on others. Similar blame game politics is being played by his political master and AAP convener, Arvind Kejriwal, although the flood victims have not received any aid. State Vice President condemned the statement of Bhagwant Mann that he “Will Not Beg For Financial Assistance From Centre”.
Sidhu said that without central assistance Punjab cannot overcome the prevailing situation when Punjab is already facing a severe financial crisis. He said that CM should always keep the interest of people of Punjab ahead of his personal grudges.
He said the central government has timely released Rs. 218.40 crore by exempting required conditions just to ensure prompt redressal of the problem. Sidhu questions CM that why AAP leaders upload videos threatening senior officers and bureaucrats when they themselves have no clue regarding the situation. Sidhu cited such opportunists as callous and insensitive.
