JOINT RESCUE OPERATION CARRIED OUT BY ADMINISTRATION WITH THE HELP OF ARMY AND BSF

(MOREPIC1)(MOREPIC2)(MOREPIC3) Ferozepur: A joint operation was carried out in flood affected villages including Vilalge Ruknewala, Nihala Lavera, Bandala, Kaluwala, Jallo Ke, Dheera Kara and Talli, situated on the banks of Sutlej river, to evacuate the border villagers to safer places.

As per information, the rescue operation of the district administration and army had started today morning at 5 am.. Apart from 10 motor boats, several manual boats had been deployed to get people out of the water safely.

“Yesterday night, we come to know about hundreds of residents belonging to villages Ruknewala, Nihala Lavera, Bandala, Kale ke, Jalle ke, Dhira Kara and Talli Gram, being trapped in flood water following which, I personally liaison with Army, BSF and Police and a rescue operation was started today morning at 5 am”, said DC Dhiman.

SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said that wherever the embankments of Sutlej were found weak, have been strengthened by adding soil. The people of the areas where water reached, have been safely taken out and taken to the relief center. Relief centers have been set up across the district, where all kinds of facilities including medical aid, langar (community food), drinking water, bedding and fodder have been arranged for the flood victims. He has appealed to the people to migrate with their families and animals.

“At this point of time, all should avoid any kind of rumor and must contact the flood control help numbers issued by the district administration at the district-tehsil level for correct information and assistance. Besides, the police is also identifying unsafe houses e. People are being safely evacuated from the flooded houses through motor boats. Sick, elderly, children and pregnant women have been shifted to safer places on priority basis”, Said SSP Bhupinder Singh.

Ferozepur (Urban) MLA Ranbir Singh Bhullar also reached at Village Ruknewala along with his supporters. While addressing the media persons, Bhullar said that the state government will leave no stone unturned to save the lives of the people. The state government has also release an amount of Rs. 1.5 crores for relief work”, said Bhullar.
