TIGER 11 WINS PANJAB UNIVERSITY OPEN CRICKET TOURNAMENT CUP

'Tiger 11' team has won the Panjab University Open Cricket Tournament Cup – a softball tournament played at the ground of Panjab University here by defeating Friends Kinnaur in the final game. In the final match of the tournament, 'Tiger 11' scored 101 runs in 8 overs whereas 'Friends Kinnaur' were bundled out for just 54 runs in 8 overs.

Ajaypal Middukhera , Youth Akali Dal(YAD) leader and brother of slain YAD leader Vicky Middukhera, gave away the prizes along with Prof. Dalwinder Singh, Director, Sports, PU Chandigarh. “Good sportsmanship goes beyond the game. I appreciate the enthusiasm of players shown during the tournament,” said Ajaypal Middukhera.(SUBHEAD)

In all, 16 teams took part in the tournament. Eight matches were played and 8 teams reached the quarters by knocking out other teams. The final was played between 'Tiger 11' and 'Friends Kinnaur'. Kirpalijit Singh, third year student from the UILS, was declared the Man of the Tournament. Gollu from Tiger 11 was adjudged as the Best Batsman, while the sobriquet of the Best Bowler went to Sugam. Vikas Mandal and Ravinder were the umpires of the tournament.

The organisers thanked Ajaypal Middukhera and Prof Dalwinder Singh, Director, Sports, Panjab University for their support which resulted in successful conduct of the tournament.
