CHANDIGARH PRESS CLUB BEAT IMA XI BY 23 RUNS

Chandigarh Press Club XI beat Indian Medical Association (IMA) by 23 runs at a exhibition match being played under the aegis of Gully Cricket Tournament organised by UT Cricket Association (UTCA) and Chandigarh Police, Chandigarh Press Club XI at Cricket Stadium, Sector 16 on Sunday.

The Press Club team led by President Saurabh Duggal won the toss and decided to bat first. Opener Raj Thakur (29) gave a blistering start which was ably supported by Yashpal Rawat (26).

(SUBHEAD)The team scored 103 runs at the of nine wickets in the stipulated ten overs. Dr. Virender and Dr. Amit Soni shared two wickets each.

In reply, the IMA XI team captained by Dr. Bedi struggled against the pace attack from the beginning and failed to recover till the end. IMA XI scored 80 runs for the loss of three wickets wherein Dr. Raman (35) emerged as the top scorer for the side.

Saurabh Duggal, Ramesh Handa and Sandeep took one wicket each. Raj Thakur was awarded as the man of the match. Present on the occasion, Senior Journalist Ramesh Vinayak in the presence of UTCA President Sanjay Tandon felicitated the winning team

Next exhibition match scheduled between Punjab Legislative Speaker's XI and Haryana Legislative Speaker's XI will be played on April 14 at the same venue.
