26 MOBILE PHONES RECOVERED FROM JAIL, EIGHT JAIL INMATES BOOKED

In a major swoopdown, the Central Jail authorities have recovered 26 mobile phones in six different seizures from the jail premises.

While divulging the details, Assistant Jail Superintendent Jasvir Singh said that during the checking of the barrack number 4, one mobile phone was recovered from an undertrial identified as Rajpal Singh while nine mobile phone were recovered during the checking of barrack number 3 which were lying abandoned. Following the recovery, a case under section 52-A Prisons Act was registered at city police station.(SUBHEAD)

In the second case, four jail inmates identified as prisoner Manjit Singh alias Bobby, undertrials Amit Kumar alias Jhanbi, Prince alias Money and Gursant Singh, were booked following the recovery of two mobiles, one charger and two data cables.

In the third case, the police booked few unidentified persons following the recovery of 114 packets of tobacco, four packets of cigarette and six mobile phones from block number 3 of the jail. As per the jail officials, the consignment was thrown from outside of the jail. The police had registered a case against unidentified persons at city police station in this regard.

In fourth case, the police booked prisoner Vijay Kumar and an undertrial Daljit Singh following the recovery of two mobile phones from their possession. The accused were booked under 52-A Prisons Act at city police station.

In another case, six mobile phones were recovered during the checking of the jail. While one mobile was recovered from an undertrial identified as Karam Singh, five more mobile phones were recovered which were lying abandoned in the jail premises. A case under 52-A was registered at city police station in this regard.
