A meeting of the office bearers of the Nursing Training Institutes Association was held with Dr. Avnish Kumar, VC of Baba Farid University Health Science and Director of Punjab Research and Medical Education, to solve the problems being faced by nursing colleges across the state. Dr. Puneet Girdhar, registrar of Punjab Nursing Training Council was also present.

Association General Secretary Dr. Sahil Mittal said that during the meeting the director and registrar were informed in detail about the problems being faced by the nursing colleges. Due to delay in results of examinations of some nursing courses, some students from other states should not be deprived of admission in Punjab, so the last date for admission of various courses should be extended, so that the students pursuing further courses do not suffer.(SUBHEAD)

Dr. Mittal said that some colleges have been approved by the Indian Nursing Council Delhi, but the Punjab Government has not given approval yet. They should also be approved soon so that they too can take admission in their colleges this year. Nursing colleges under Baba Farid University are heavily fined for changing the internal examiner, while on the other hand, the dental and MBBS courses run by the university itself are fined in a symbolic manner.

The Association demanded that minimum late fees should be imposed on the colleges so that the operators who are already suffering from economic recession can get relief. The examination fee of the B.Sc Nursing course should also be reduced. In this course of four years, earlier there was an examination in one year, whose fee used to be Rs. 3500 in each year, but now two semesters have been made in each year and the fee of each semester is Rs. 3500, this should be reduced.
