ILLEGAL TRADE FROM COMBODIA TO INDIA
16190 PACKETS OF ILLEGALLY SMUGGLED IMPORTED CIGARETTES AND 570 PACKETS OF ILLEGALLY IMPORTED CIGAR WORTH RS. 30 LACS APPROX. SEIZED, CIGARETTES WERE BEING ILLEGALLY BROUGHT TO INDIA VIA CAMBODIA.

Special Staff, Central District has arrested three Imported Cigarettes smugglers namely (1) Md Danish S/0 Saleem, Age-39 Years R/0 Chandni Mahal, Delhi, (2) Shoaib Riyaz S/0 Kamaluddin, Age-27 Years R/0 Daryaganj, Delhi (3) Rajesh Kumar S/0 Lt. Ramlal, Age-50 Years R/0 Tilak Nagar, Delhi. The team of Special staff, Central District has busted the smuggling racket of imported cigarettes and recovered 16190 packets of illegally smuggled imported cigarettes worth Rs. 30 Lacs.
On 26.06.2022, secret information was received that some persons involved in the smuggling of imported cigarettes are present in the area of PS IP Estate having possession of cartons of illegally smuggled imported cigarettes. On receiving the above information, immediately a team under of supervision of SI Sandeep Godara I/C Special Staff, comprising of SI Pardeep, ASI Kanhiya Lal, ASI Yoginder Giri, HC Sunil, and HC Dalbir was constituted under overall supervision of Sh. Yogesh Malhotra, ACP/Ops./CD.(SUBHEAD)
Thereafter, acting upon said secret information, the team of Special Staff apprehended 3 persons namely (1) Md Danish S/0 Saleem, Age-39 Years R/0 Chandni Mahal, Delhi, (2) Shoaib Riyaz S/0 Kamaluddin, Age-27 Years R/0 Daryaganj, Delhi (3) Rajesh Kumar S/0 Lt. Ramlal, Age-50 Years R/0 Tilak Nagar, Delhi and 12510 packets of illegal cigarettes were recovered from their possession.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 221/22 dated 26.06.2022 u/s- 7/20 of the Cigarette & Other Tobacco Product Act 2003was registered at PS I.P. Estate, Delhi.
Ms. Shweta Chauhan, IPS, DCP, Central , said, on sustained interrogation, accused persons revealed that they smuggled recovered cigarettes via Cambodia. Earlier, they used to smuggle cigarettes via Dubai but due to heavy restrictions on the route they have changed the route to via Cambodia to bring cigarettes to India.
KNOW THE ACCUSED: Md Danish S/0 Saleem is 8th pass and he was born in Delhi. He is married. He is involved in smuggling of imported cigarettes for a very long time., Shoaib Riyaz S/0 Kamaluddin is 12th pass and he was born in Delhi. He is involved in smuggling of imported cigarettes for a very long time and Rajesh Kumar S/0 Lt. Ramlal is 10th pass and he was born in Delhi. He is married. He is involved in smuggling of imported cigarettes for a very long time along with Danish and Shoaib.
Further investigation is being made to ascertain the magnitude of the offence and identification of other accused persons involved in the smuggling racket.
