On the occasion of World Environment Day, the NSS units of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, in collaboration with MCM Eco Club ‘Parivesh’, organised an awareness session and nukkad natak at Anganwadi Complex of the adopted village Badheri.

During the event, the NSS volunteers apprised the residents about the relevance of the day and ways of protecting the environment. One of the volunteers Ms. Anjali Balhara expressed her views in the form of a poem where she highlighted the consequences of deforestation on flora and fauna. The volunteers also performed nukkad natak that sensitised the residents about the harmful effects of gases like carbon monoxide, and non-biodegradable plastic waste.(SUBHEAD)

At the end, the volunteers appealed to the residents of the village to minimise the usage of plastics and adopt sustainable practices like usage of eco-friendly materials in their day-to-day life.

Giving the tagline- 'Plant new trees before the old ones fall', Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava called for concerted efforts to conserve the environment as she reminded that the consequences of ecosystem loss can be disastrous She said that it is high time that humans shift their focus from environmental exploitation to environmental healing, thereby ensuring a sustainable future.
