NATIONAL CANCER SURVIVORS DAY: CANCER SURVIVORS SHARE INSPIRATIONAL STORIES DURING ‘SAARTHAK MEET’

 To commemorate National Cancer Survivors Day, Saarthak– the cancer support group at Fortis Mohali organized an event today at the facility, where cancer Survivors from different walks of life gathered together to share their survival stories and inspire others. In a fun-filled and informative session, friends and families of more than 50 cancer survivors came under one roof to celebrate and ‘Salute the grit and determination of the cancer survivors.’

National Cancer Survivors Day commemorates those who have survived the disease, while becoming a source of inspiration for others. The event kicked off with a lamp-lighting ceremony and was followed by several activities, including games, dance, tambola, Q&A session and other activities, which drew an energetic response from the kith & kin of the survivors present at the event.

(MOREPIC1)The Oncology Team comprising of Dr Rajeev Bedi, Director, Medical Oncology; Dr Rajeev Kapoor, Additional Director, Oncology; Dr Narendra Kumar Bhalla, Director, Radiation Oncology; Dr Rajnish Talwar, Additional Director, Surgical Oncology; Dr Atul Joshi, Director, General Laparoscopy and Breast Cancer Surgeon; Dr Naval Bansal, Endocrine & Breast Cancer Surgeon; Dr Ketan Dang, Consultant, Oncology; Dr Ashwani Sachdeva, Consultant; Dr Arunjeet Kaur, Principal Medical Officer, Oncology; and other staff members attended the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Bedi, said, “The National Cancer Survivors Day brings several cancer fighters on a common platform where they share their experiences and provide motivation to each other to never lose hope.”

Stating that Fortis Mohali was humbled to provide a platform to the cancer survivors, Abhijit Singh, Head, Strategic Business Unit, Fortis Mohali, said, “Cancer survivors are an inspiration and we need to celebrate their struggles to generate awareness about the disease. The event is a celebration of life.”
