Canada-based NRI, Raghbir Singh, son of Mohan Singh, of village Gandwa, Tehsil Phagwara, District Kapurthala, accused a former SSP of illegally grabbing his land.

Addressing the media at Chandigarh Press Club here today, Raghbir Singh said that he has been fighting for his land since 2012, but even after 10 years he has not got justice. The Congress and Akali governments did not provide him justice, but now with the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, he has got the hope of justice.

Raghbir Singh accused retired SSP Kamaljit Singh Dhillon of Kapurthala and Gurjinder Singh, son of Kirpal Singh from Urban Estate Phagwara, of illegally occupying his house and his sister's land under a conspiracy. Apart from intimidating him, the accused also filed false police cases against him. He said, “During the Covid pandemic, these people sent goons to his village, who forcefully occupied the land after intimidating my caretakers.”(SUBHEAD)

He said that his nephew Manjit Singh (son of Harchand Singh) had made a written agreement of his land with Santokh Singh (son of Pakhar Singh), but the above accused took advantage of Corona and grabbed the land.

He said that his 6 acres of land was freed in 2016, but 4 acres land was registered in the name of Navneet Kaur (sister-in-law of retired SSP Kamaljit Singh Dhillon), against whom a FIR No. 95 was lodged in Phagwara, which has has not been cancelled yet. He said that the land given to him by his nephew Manjit Singh, was forcibly occupied by Avtar Singh and Bahadur Singh during the Corona times.

He also said that since 2012, he has appealed to the then governments, but no action has been taken. He said that now he is going to complain about it to the Chief Minister of Punjab, DGP Punjab and SSP. “If I do not get justice, I will stage a sit-in outside the Punjab Assembly House. He appealed to Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann to get the matter investigated and give him justice.
