Hundreds of residents celebrated the third consecutive victory in ICC T20 World Cup 2026 at Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh Chowk in an unprecedented way.

On a social media call from the forum of local organisations, Ankur Garg offered to distribute 10 kilograms of laddus and arrange for a DJ. Deendayal, a renowned archer and coach, arranged fireworks. The Photographers Welfare Association came forward to enable people to enjoy the celebrations at home.

Among those present were coordinator Praveen Chawla, Raju Charaya, Amit Asija Advocate, Dr Ashwani Watts, Bharat Goyal and councilor Puneet Arora Sonu. Municipal Council former President Pramil Kalani also extended his support to this community event.

When New Zealand lost by 96 runs, hundreds of people burst into joys carrying the national flags, setting off fireworks and dancing at the beautifully decorated Chowk.

This was the first event of its kind organized at the conclusion of any tournament in Abohar's history, where representatives from various organizations and cricket fans gathered in such large numbers without any written invitation. Among those who congratulated the event was veteran social activist Chaman Lal Wadhwa, based in Delhi. He kept on boosting morale of the organisers and shared Urdu couplets as well.
