To turn Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s vision of a “drug-free state” into reality, Haryana Police is now working in a strong and decisive manner. Under the guidance of DGP Haryana Ajay Singhal, a strict and well-planned campaign is being carried out across the state against drug traffickers.
To make this campaign effective on the ground, Panchkula Police Commissioner (ADGP) Sibash Kabiraj gave clear instructions to all police units in the district to work together and eliminate drug networks completely.
As part of this effort, on April 23, the Crime Branch Sector-26 team achieved a major success. Acting on secret information, a team led by Inspector Dalip Singh set up a checkpoint near village Pyarewala on the Raipur Rani–Naraingarh road. They arrested an accused named Rashpal Singh alias Lali, a resident of Tarn Taran district in Punjab, along with his Mahindra Bolero vehicle. During the search, 538 grams of heroin was recovered from under the driver’s seat. The estimated market value of the heroin is around 1.05 crore. A case has been registered against him under Section 21C of the NDPS Act at Raipur Rani police station.
During a press conference, the ACP Crime revealed that the accused had been involved in drug trafficking for a long time. He used to bring heroin from Punjab and supply it in the Panchkula area. He was presented in court on April 24 and initially taken on 3 days police remand. Later, another 4 days remand was taken to gather more information and reach his main supplier. The accused was also a former state-level kabaddi player and has two criminal cases registered against him in Punjab, including attempted murder and fraud.
Police said that the accused has shared important information about his main supplier. Based on this, police teams are conducting raids at possible locations. More arrests in this network are expected soon.
According to the DCP Crime and Traffic, in less than four months of 2026, the police have registered 37 cases under the NDPS Act and arrested 58 drug traffickers, including 18 main suppliers. Out of these, 10 cases involved commercial quantities and 27 involved intermediate quantities. He further stated that during this period, a total of 5 kg 141 grams heroin, 27 kg poppy husk, 6 kg 296 grams ganja, 1 kg 558 grams charas, 710 grams opium, and 40,200 banned intoxicant tablets were seized, with a total estimated value of around 8.85 crore.
Additionally, properties of three drug traffickers Amar Singh (Pinjore), Sultan (Panchkula), and Abhishek (from Uttar Pradesh, currently living in Sector-14 Panchkula) built using drug money were demolished using bulldozers.
Police are also focusing on awareness programs. Between January and March 2026, 81 awareness programs were conducted, reaching 3,699 people to educate them about the harmful effects of drugs. Recently, drugs worth 2.02 crore, seized between 2022 and 2024, were destroyed at a hygiene factory in Bagwala.
Under the campaign “Drug-free and violence-free village is my pride,” from January 1 to April 26, 2026, three special teams contacted 3,348 people and identified 399 drug victims. Out of these, treatment for 361 people has started, and 38 victims have been admitted to rehabilitation centers.
Panchkula Police has appealed to the public to share any information related to drug trafficking by calling the Drug Info Helpline numbers 7087081100, 7087081048, or the Manas Helpline 1933. The police have assured that the identity of informers will be kept completely confidential.
