FORMER MAYOR, EX MC-CHIEF, COUNSELLORS PARTICIPATE IN PROTEST AT ABOHAR

Raj Sadosh/Abohar.

Former Mayor Vimal Thatai, Municipal Council Ex-president Shivraj Goyal, former and recently elected councillors including Narinder Verma, Naresh Goyal, Anuj Dhawan, Sachin Setia, Lalit Soni, Rajesh Purohit and SAD leader Harvinder Singh Harry along with hundreds of other residents today expressed solidarity with a Gobind Nagri family in protest against City-1 police.

People blocked the road at Abohar-Malout Chowk and raised slogans against the police administration and the Punjab government. The angry family said that two days ago, senior police officers had assured to arrest the suspects in the case about their missing minor daughter but neither the main accused was held nor their daughter was recovered.

The family said that today when they went to the police station to know about the action, the police personnel present there closed the gates. The girl’s family and others lambasted the police for their failure in ensuring justice in the kidnap case even after five weeks.

SHO Maninder Singh arrived to convince the protesters but they continued braving scorching heat. DSP Harish Kumar said the accused boy’s mother has already been arrested, a friend of the said boy has also been detained for questioning.

Due to traffic jams, long queues were formed, vehicles had to be diverted through the town area.
