About 10 kg of heroin smuggled from Pakistan has been recovered by Sriganganagar police. Its price in the international market is said to be around Rs 50 crore. Police have arrested two smugglers from the spot, while five other suspects have been rounded up for questioning. Superintendent of Police Hari Shankar said that about 9.5 kg of heroin was recovered from the possession of two smugglers in the Jaitsar area. After this, 500gm of heroin was recovered by raiding the house of the main accused. During the operation, the suspects allegedly tried to flee, leading to a chase and a collision in which their vehicle rammed a police vehicle before two of them were caught near a culvert in Chak 5-GB under the Jaitsar police station area.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that this consignment was dropped from Pakistan through a drone in the border area. After this, the network of drug smugglers had prepared to send it to Punjab. The main accused is a resident of Sameja Kothi area.

In another action, the joint team of Raisinghnagar police and ANTF has recovered 166 grams of heroin and arrested three accused. Police have also seized a car used in smuggling. This action was taken under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Rameshwar Lal and Circle Officer Hanuman Singh Rathod and under the leadership of police station in-charge Mahavir Prasad.

According to the police, during the operation in Bus Stand Thakri area, 166 grams of heroin was recovered from the possession of accused Anuj Kumar (32), Sanjay alias Sethi (21) and Shri Krishna alias Rahul (32), residents of Rawla. All three were arrested and the car used in smuggling was confiscated.

ANTF outpost in-charge Ganesh Kumar said that preliminary inquiry has revealed that the accused arranged heroin from Ferozepur to sell it in Rawla. Police are also investigating whether the accused had earlier also brought a consignment of heroin from Ferozepur and supplied it in the area or not.
