Abohar City-1 police have exposed a vicious gang which used to trap people by luring them to double their money and then looted their money by posing as fake policemen. Police have arrested four members of the gang. Upon interrogation, three police uniforms, three ballots and handcuffs were recovered at their behest. Investigation has been done by ASI Bhupinder Singh. The Gang used to commit frauds in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan.
SHO Maninder Singh said that Wahabwala resident Bhoma Ram alias Tunda, Sarabha Nagar resident Karnail Singh and Panjpir Nagar resident Harpreet Singh alias Bittu were reportedly luring innocent people into doubling the currency notes. Investigation revealed that the accused used to take small amounts of money from people and show them doubled notes to take them into confidence.
After this, he was called to a woman’s house in Sarabha Nagar with a huge amount of money. There Bhoma Ram and Karnail Singh used to dress in saffron clothes and pretend to perform tantric rituals and double the notes.
Meanwhile, other members of the gang used to reach the spot wearing police uniform and carrying handcuffs. The accused, pretending to be policemen, used to create a drama of fake raids and snatch the money of the people who came to get the currency doubled by threatening them of implicating them in false cases. Due to fear, the victims would run away from the spot and the accused would divide the money among themselves.
Police have arrested Bhoma Ram, Karnail Singh, Harpreet Singh and Rajveer Singh. Nimmo resident Malout and others have also been named in the FIR.
