MAN HELD FOR IMPERSONATING RAILWAY VIGILANCE INSPECTOR

Vikram Ditya Sharma/Ferozepur

A man allegedly posing as a Railway Vigilance Inspector and attempting to interfere in official railway functioning was apprehended at Jalandhar Cantonment Railway Station, prompting immediate action by the Railway Protection Force (RPF).

Divulging details, Paramdeep Singh Saini, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Freight), Ferozepur Division, said that on June 28, railway officials noticed a suspicious individual who was introducing himself as a Railway Vigilance Inspector and attempting to establish a false identity among railway employees. The accused, identified as Javed Ali, was allegedly trying to gain undue benefits and privileges by misrepresenting himself as a vigilance official.

Saini said that when the individual was asked to produce his official railway identity card, he failed to furnish any valid document in support of his claim. Following this, the matter was immediately reported to the Railway Protection Force, which initiated the necessary legal and departmental proceedings against him.

He further stated that the Railways takes a serious view of any attempt to impersonate railway officials or interfere in official duties, and strict action would be taken against anyone found indulging in such activities.

Appealing to passengers and railway employees, Saini urged them to remain vigilant and verify the credentials of any person claiming to be a railway or vigilance official. He also advised that any suspicious activity or impersonation attempt should be immediately reported to the Railway Protection Force or concerned railway authorities.
