JHINJER SLAMS AAP MLA GURLAL SINGH FOR LEAVING CONSTITUENCY AT GOD’S WILL; EXPOSES SDO’S ABSENCE FROM OFFICE DURING PEAK PADDY SEASON

Youth Akali Dal national president and Ghanaur halqa incharge Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer, along with Shiromani Akali Dal leadership and a large number of party workers, on Tuesday staged a massive protest outside the electricity board office in Ghanaur, raising a strong voice against the crippling power cuts and the acute non-availability of electricity and canal water to farmers during the critical paddy cultivation season.
As a mark of protest against the apathy of the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government, protesters burned an effigy of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, accusing the government of sleeping while farmers across the region suffer without electricity and water at the most crucial time.
Addressing mediapersons, Jhinjer said that the protest began outside the electricity board office, but when no official came forward to hear their demands, the delegation decided to go inside the office. What they found inside, he said, was even more shocking — the SDO was absent from his post. When the clerical staff was asked about the officer’s whereabouts, they simply asked the delegation to call him directly.
Jhinjer said that when they contacted the SDO over the phone, the officer revealed that he had been assigned duty for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) — a voter list revision exercise — by senior officials. When Jhinjer called the concerned XEN to verify this, the XEN stated that the duty had been assigned by the DC officer.
Terming this state of affairs highly shameful, Jhinjer said that this is the peak period of paddy cultivation, when farmers are most dependent on electricity officials to address breakdowns, repair burnt transformers and fix snapped wires. “At a time when SDO-level officers are desperately needed in the field, they have been pulled away to make voter entries under SIR. This is a criminal betrayal of the farmers,” he said.
Jhinjer squarely held Ghanaur MLA Gurlal Singh Ghanaur responsible for this complete breakdown of administration in the constituency. He said that it is the MLA’s fundamental duty to ensure that the right officer is at the right place at the right time, but the AAP legislator has abdicated all responsibility.
“There are no doctors in hospitals, no teachers in schools, and no SDO in the electricity office — the MLA has simply left Ghanaur at God’s will,” Jhinjer said, demanding immediate corrective action from the state government.
Among those present during the protest included Jasmer Singh Lachhru (SGPC Member), farmer leader Pawan Kumar Soglpur, Lal Singh Mardapur, Circle President Jaswinder Singh Lachhru, Kuldeep Singh Ghanaur, Kulwinder Singh Kala, Succha Singh Alimazra, Master Davinder Singh Tehalpura, Gurchet Singh Suron, Jaswinder Singh Bambi, Virsa Singh Bagora, Naranta Singh Alamdipur, Avtar Singh Chapar, Karnail Singh Ajraur, Lakhwinder Singh Ghumana, Sushil Kumar Ulana, Gurbachan Singh Saidkheri, Monu Saidkheri, Gurjant Singh Mehiduda, Parvinder Singh Sarwara, Gurmel Singh Kami Khurd, Dr. Boota Singh, Simranjit Singh Gandia, Baljit Singh Chechi, Gurpreet Singh Nona, Davinder Sarwara, Gurwinder Singh Magar, Balvir Singh Bhatt Majra, Sarbjot Singh Bhattmajra, Amrik Singh Harpalpur, Gurpreet Singh Harpalpur, Harinder Singh Harpalpur, Manpreet Singh Harpalpur, Harmanpreet Singh Harpalpur, Joga Singh Mandoli, Harinder Mandoli, Gian Singh Mandoli, Gurjit Singh Tohra, Sukhman Singh Sarala Kalan, Gurdial Singh Ali Majra, Sukhchain Singh Mardapur, Gurpreet Singh Sandharsi and Manjit Singh Sehra.
