As part of the ongoing statewide campaign against drug trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Cell of Hisar Police has achieved a major success by seizing a commercial quantity of 53 kilograms and 240 grams of poppy husk (Doda Post). A Swift car used for transporting the contraband has also been confiscated. In this regard, a case has been registered at Urban Estate Police Station, Hisar under Sections 15(C), 60(3), 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.

Director General of Police, Haryana, Sh. Ajay Singhal, IPS, said,  the State Govt has adopted a stringent policy against narcotics and is carrying out an intensive statewide campaign to eradicate the menace of drugs. Haryana Police, with the same resolve, is continuously taking effective action to dismantle the entire network of drug traffickers. He reiterated that no person involved in the illegal drug trade will be spared and strict legal action will be ensured against all offenders.

Superintendent of Police, Hisar, Sh. Siddhant Jain, said that the Anti-Narcotics Cell team was conducting patrol and anti-drug operations on NH-9A near the Raipur Railway Bridge when it received credible intelligence that three youths were transporting a large quantity of poppy husk towards Hisar in a white Swift car. Acting swiftly on the information, the police established a naka near Raipur Chowk. During the naka checking, the suspected Swift car was found parked on the roadside. On noticing the police team, the three occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled towards the nearby fields.

He further informed that preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was registered in Karauli district of Rajasthan. Based on questioning of the registered owner and the persons who had hired the vehicle, it was found to be in the possession of a suspect against whom a case has been registered for drug trafficking. Special police teams are conducting continuous raids to apprehend the absconding accused.

The Superintendent of Police said that the search of the vehicle was conducted in accordance with all legal formalities. During the search, a total of 53 kilograms and 240 grams of poppy husk was recovered from three plastic sacks kept inside the car. The first sack contained 20 kilograms 300 grams, the second 17 kilograms 320 grams, and the third 15 kilograms 620 grams of poppy husk. The recovered contraband and the vehicle used in the crime were seized and sealed as per the prescribed legal procedure.

In addition, various sports competitions, sporting activities and youth engagement programmes are being organised to channelise the energy of young people in a positive direction and encourage them to adopt a healthy lifestyle while contributing to nation-building.

He said that under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, the Haryana Government is committed to building a drug-free, safe and healthy Haryana. To achieve this objective, a decisive campaign against drugs will continue through the collective efforts of the police, administration and the public.
