SIKH COMMUNITY OUTRAGED OVER DEMOLITION OF 125-YEAR-OLD GURDWARA IN PAKISTAN

The Sikh community of Sriganganagar staged a massive protest today against the demolition of the historic, 125-year-old Gurdwara Guru Singh Sabha located in Farrukhabad, Pakistan.

A large number of people participated in the protest, which was organized under the aegis of the Gurdwara Singh Sabha Management Committee. Gathering at Maharaja Ganga Singh Chowk in the afternoon, the protesters expressed their indignation and accused the Pakistani government of failing completely to protect the religious sites of the minority Sikh community. After burning an effigy, the protesters marched to the District Collectorate, where they raised slogans against the Pakistani government.

The protesters submitted a memorandum addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the District Collector. The memorandum demanded an impartial and transparent inquiry into the demolition of Gurdwara Guru Singh Sabha in Farrukhabad, and called for strict action against those responsible. It also urged that the Gurdwara be reconstructed in a manner that restores its original form and dignity.

The memorandum further stated that the security of all Sikh religious sites in Pakistan must be ensured and effective measures taken to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future. It called for the protection of the lives, religious freedom, dignity, and constitutional rights of all religious minorities, including the Sikh community. It also suggested that the issue be raised on international platforms, if necessary, to ensure the safety of religious minorities.

The participants included Jatinderpal Singh Kochar (President, Gurdwara Singh Sabha Management Committee), Dalbara Singh Brar (former President, Bar Association), Gurvinder Singh, Rajpal Singh (Buddha Johad), Rajwinder Singh (Sikh Dharam Prachar Committee), Jathedar Harpal Singh (Dashmesh Tarna Dal), Gursahib Singh Happy (Chak 11 G), Avtar Singh (President, Gurdwara Chak 3-B), and Kulwinder Singh Grewal.
