A resident of Jhampur village in Mohali has submitted a complaint to the Chairman of the Punjab Scheduled Castes Commission, alleging that officials of the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) illegally demolished the boundary wall of his agricultural land after he refused to pay an alleged bribe.
In his complaint, Gurnam Singh has sought intervention from the Punjab Scheduled Castes Commission, requesting an impartial inquiry into the alleged bribery, demolition of the boundary wall, intimidation, and caste-based harassment.
The complainant alleged that on June 22, 2026, the Junior Engineer, accompanied by other GMADA officials, security personnel, and a JCB machine, arrived at the site and demolished the brick boundary wall.
Gurnam Singh also alleged that the GMADA official threatened his wife, who is a senior citizen and a cancer patient, with legal consequences if the matter was reported. He further claimed that derogatory remarks were made against his family on the basis of their Scheduled Caste identity.The complainant has sought intervention from the Punjab Scheduled Castes Commission, requesting an impartial inquiry into the alleged bribery, demolition of the boundary wall, intimidation, and caste-based harassment.
