SOLUTION TO WATERLOGGING CRISIS UNDERWAY: TRENCHING MACHINE REACTIVATED

Persistent efforts by MLA Sandeep Jakhar to free farmers from the long-standing, complex, and severe issue of waterlogging have finally borne fruit on the ground. Thanks to his strong advocacy, the ‘trenching machine’—which had been idle for a considerable period—has been reactivated at full capacity in the Khuian Sarwar and Dhani Chirag areas.

The MLA said that this project has been revitalized at a cost of approximately Rs 6 crore with the aim of eradicating this chronic local problem at its root. Under this scheme, a state-of-the-art underground pipeline will be laid across roughly 160 acres of affected agricultural land. This pipeline will facilitate the smooth and safe drainage of the highly saline, crop-damaging water accumulated underground; this will transform land that had turned into a swamp and lay barren for years back into fertile, lush, and cultivable farmland.

Sandeep Jakhar said that this was a long-standing and major demand of the region’s farmers, whose crops were being repeatedly destroyed, causing their economic condition to collapse. He had been working with unwavering commitment and determination from day one to find a permanent solution to this critical issue. Now, the reactivation of the trenching machine will significantly accelerate the pipeline-laying process, bringing much-needed relief to the farmers very soon.
