HARSIMRAT SEEKS NIA PROBE INTO ATTACKS ON SUKHBIR, CALLS THEM ‘DEEP CONSPIRACY’

Senior SAD leader and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal today sought National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into two attacks on SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal, alleging that the incidents were part of a “deep conspiracy” to eliminate him and weaken the Shiromani Akali Dal.

Addressing a “Punjab Bachao” rally in Guruharsahai, Harsimrat said conspiracies had been continuously hatched against the “Panthik Party” since 2015 and urged SAD workers to remain united. She said she had written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking an NIA investigation into both incidents and expressed confidence that the people of Punjab would defeat the designs of the opposition in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Harsimrat linked the attack outside the Golden Temple on December 4, 2024, with the recent Nanded Sahib incident, alleging that both were part of a conspiracy against Sukhbir and the SAD. She further alleged that the person who attacked Sukhbir outside the Golden Temple was an ISI agent and was being assisted by an SP-rank police officer. She also questioned how the accused secured bail within three months of the incident.

Referring to the attack on Sukhbir, Harsimrat said the assault with a sharp weapon was condemnable and thanked Waheguru that he survived. She said Sukhbir had received more than 150 stitches on his arm but was now recovering.

Targeting the AAP government, she alleged that several political parties had formed governments in Punjab by taking “false oaths” in the name of the Guru Ghar but later betrayed the people. She accused Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of failing to fulfil his promises and said Punjab would not accept a government controlled from Delhi. She also demanded that jobs in Punjab should primarily go to the people of the state.

Harsimrat alleged that attempts were being made to disturb Punjab’s peace and weaken the SAD, but said the party remained strong and would continue to stand with the people of Punjab.

She also praised former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for his alleged sacrifices for Punjab and claimed that the development carried out during Sukhbir Badal’s tenure had not been matched by any other government.

SAD district president and former MLA Joginder Singh Jindu, Guruharsahai constituency in-charge Vardeve Singh Mann, Jalalabad constituency in-charge Nardev Singh Mann, former cabinet ministers Sikandar Singh Maluka and Janmeja Singh Sekhon and other Akali leaders were present at the rally.
