SILENCE OF THE ‘AAP’ GOVT AND POLITICAL LEADERS OVER ALLEGED POLICE TORTURE OF DALIT BROTHERS IS SHAMEFUL: KAINTH

ALLEGATIONS OF STRIPPING AND ADMINISTERING ELECTRIC SHOCKS TO TWO BROTHERS FROM KAKARALA EXPOSE THE FAILURE OF LAW AND ORDER IN PUNJAB, ALLEGED ATTEMPT TO IMPLICATE THE VICTIM FAMILY IN A FALSE CASE INSTEAD OF DELIVERING JUSTICE MAKES THE MATTER EVEN MORE SERIOUS: KAINTH

Face2News/Chandigarh

Serious allegations of brutal police torture of two Scheduled Caste brothers from Kakarala village in the Nabha Assembly constituency, including allegedly stripping them and administering electric shocks in connection with an alleged false theft case, have raised alarming questions over law and order and human rights in Punjab.

Bharatiya Janata Party Scheduled Caste Morcha Punjab State Vice-President Paramjit Singh Kainth said the allegations against the in-charge of Police Post Chhintanwala are extremely serious. He demanded that the Bhagwant Mann government immediately order a fair, high-level and time-bound investigation.

Kainth strongly condemned the alleged attempt by the police to implicate the victim family in a false case instead of providing justice. He said that turning victims seeking justice into accused persons would amount to a mockery of the rule of law. The victim family must not be intimidated, pressured or targeted for raising allegations of police torture.

He questioned the local MLA and leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party, Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal: “When serious allegations of torture of two Dalit youths have surfaced, where are these leaders?”

He said political leaders who visit Dalit families during elections must also stand with them when they face alleged injustice. “Why are they not reaching the doorstep of this victim family today?”

Kainth said human rights cannot be subjected to political convenience and alleged atrocities against Dalits cannot be suppressed through political influence.

He demanded immediate medical examination of the victims, recording of their statements free from police pressure, and strict legal action against anyone found responsible on the basis of evidence.

Kainth warned that any attempt to suppress the voice of Dalits, intimidate the victim family or shield guilty officials will not be tolerated. The government must stop hiding behind the police uniform and ensure justice for the victim family.
