PANCHAYATS OF EIGHT VILLAGES WARN AGAINST POLITICIANS’ ENTRY

Panchayats and residents of a total of 8 villages surrounding Abohar – including Seed Farm Pakka, Seed Farm Kuccha, Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar, Baba Jeevan Singh Nagar, Dhani Kadaka Singh, Ajit Singh Nagar and Sarabha Nagar today sounded the bugle of struggle that may result in boycott of the upcoming assembly elections.

The panchayats said that their protest and boycott will continue until the Punjab government issues them fair compensation for their lands and gives ownership rights to the settlers. On this occasion, Sarpanch Ramandeep Singh, Gurdev Singh, Mandeep Singh, Banta Singh, William Masih, Chhinderpal Singh and Sukhwinder Singh said in their address that till date proper compensation has not been received for using the land to construct a bypass coming out of Seed Farm.

They said that till date no politician of any party has done justice to them, hence now they too will not allow any politician to enter these villages. If anyone defies this mandate, then he will be responsible for the consequences. They said that there are eight Panchayats in Seed Farm and all of them have decided that no current or former Sarpanch of the village or aspirant for such office should invite any political leader to the village. This boycott will continue until the villagers get proper compensation for their lands and ownership rights of houses and lands.
