MLA SANDEEP JAKHAR REVIEWS ACTIVITIES OF ICAR-CIPHET AND KVK

MLA Sandeep Jakhar visited the ICAR-CIPHET Regional Station (Abohar) and KVK Fazilka today to review the institutes’ various activities and farmer-friendly initiatives. He inspected different sections of the institute, including laboratories, the Agro-processing center, and the Makhana (fox nut) field, and took stock of new initiatives being launched for the Fazilka district.

The MLA also visited the Soil Science and Home Science laboratories and gathered information on the work being done by KVK, Officials briefed him on efforts to connect local farmers with modern agricultural and processing techniques.

A valedictory ceremony was also held for a one-month ‘Fabric Designing Training’ program organized by KVK Fazilka and ICAR-CIPHET Regional Station, Abohar, under the Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan. Twenty beneficiaries from the Scheduled Caste community received practical training in fabric designing through stitching and embroidery.

The participants were taught fabric cutting, stitching, embroidery, fabric decoration, bag making, and the design of new products. The objective of the training was to foster skill development among women and beneficiaries while creating opportunities for self-employment and income generation.

Sandeep Jakhar distributed training certificates and sewing machines to all 20 participants, enabling them to start their own ventures. He appreciated such programs aimed at skill development and empowering rural women to become self-reliant. Scientists from KVK and ICAR-CIPHET briefed the MLA in detail about the institutes’ farmer-centric activities, as well as initiatives related to food processing, value addition, skill development, and efforts to boost agriculture-based income in Fazilka district.
