25 Punjab Battalion NCC, Abohar, has commenced the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC)-63 (Pre-RDC-II) at the NCC Academy, Malout. The ten-day camp is being conducted under the guidance of Colonel Rajeev Sirohi, Camp Commandant, and Lieutenant Colonel Gaurav Nyol, Deputy Camp Commandant. A total of 542 cadets are participating in the camp.
Colonel Rajeev Sirohi welcomed the Associate NCC Officers (ANOs), CareTaker Officers (CTOs), Girl Cadet Instructors (GCIs), Permanent Instructional (PI) staff, civilian staff and cadets. He emphasised that the camp aims to impart the military way of life, focusing on discipline, self-confidence, time management and stress management.
The training schedule prioritises practical skills, including drill, physical fitness, firing, map reading, weapon training, judging distance, field craft and battle craft. Cadets will also undergo structured sessions on life skills covering leadership qualities, personality development, communication skills, health and hygiene, disaster management and fire safety. Cadets selected for the Pre-Republic Day Camp (Pre-RDC) will receive specialised coaching in drill and flag-area competitions. A series of sports events and inter-platoon competitions have been planned to keep the cadets motivated and actively engaged.
Colonel Sirohi also briefed the cadets on essential administrative measures, stressing the need to maintain personal health and hygiene, prevent dehydration and keep the camp area clean at all times. He underlined that one of the key objectives of the camp is to foster a spirit of bonhomie, camaraderie and national integration among the cadets drawn from different institutions.
