1.530 KG HEROIN DROPPED BY DRONE ON HINDUMALKOT BORDER RECOVERED

Once again a cache of illegal heroin dropped by Pakistani smugglers from a drone has been caught in the Hindumalkot area, about 31km from Abohar, adjacent to the India-Pakistan border. A total of 1.530 kg heroin has been recovered from a field in village Chak 5-C Sujawalpur.

According to Superintendent of Police Hari Shankar Yadav, a case has been registered against unknown persons under the NDPS Act and investigation has been started. The same area had witnessed the recovery of MD drugs three days ago also. Police sources say that this border area appears to be the target of both Indian and Pakistani smugglers.

Villagers informed the police about a suspicious packet being seen in the field of Mandeep Singh in the periphery of the village. Police led by Inspector Sunil Khod reached the spot. A packet lying in the field was recovered. Apart from the tape, the packet had an illuminating stick and ring attached to it, so that the smugglers could easily find it at night. On opening the packet, two plastic bags were found inside the cloth bag, which were filled with a total of 1.530 kg of heroin. The cloth bag was marked with ‘999’ quality mark and something was also written on it in Urdu.

It is not yet clear when Pakistani smugglers dropped this packet through a drone in Indian Territory. Police guess that due to the packet being lost in the field, the Indian smugglers were unable to pick it up and left it behind.

Three days ago, a packet of more than 200 grams of MD drugs was found in a field in the same area. The pattern of packing in both the incidents is similar.
