KING PIN LIQUOR SMUGGLER BUY LIQUOR FROM CHANDIGARH AND SUPPLYING TO HIMACHAL AND UP, ARRESTED

Panchkula Police reported to have arrested kingpin liquor smuggler with 70 boxes of illegal liquor and remanded to police custody for two days on Monday.

He used to buy liquor from Chandigarh and sell it illegally in Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. He was arrested in a nakabandi.

As per the instructions of Panchkula Police Commissioner Rakesh Kumar Arya, Panchkula Police is tightening the noose on drug smugglers by keeping a constant watch on suspicious vehicles and activities by conducting 'Nakas” to stop illegal liquor smuggling. In which the team of Crime Branch-26 in-charge Sub Inspector Mandeep has arrested a youth in the case of illegal liquor smuggling.

(SUBHEAD)Police said, the Crime Branch team was on patrol when they got information from secret sources that a youth will load illegal liquor from Chandigarh in a Bolero vehicle and will go to supply it in Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh via Mata Mansa Devi. Police conducted a blockade near the mentioned place and stopped the vehicle and questioned the youth.

The youth has been identified as Manish Sharma (30) son of Uttam Chand Sharma, resident of village Ramgarh, police station Chandimandir, district Panchkula, currently residing in Punjab Colony, district .Mohali, Upon searching the vehicle, 70 crates of illegal English liquor were found under the tarpaulin. Which contained a total of 840 bottles of liquor.

On questioning, the accused could not produce any license/permit. On the basis of which a case was registered against the accused in Mansa Devi police station under section 61(1)(A) of the Haryana Excise Act 2020.
