The DAV College here is gearing up to receive Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria’s drug awareness Padyatra. The Governor will reach Abohar on February 12 to start the Padyatra at 11:30 AM from the Municipal Corporation to DAV College.

Preparations for the Governor's Padyatra at DAV College are in full swing. The auditorium has been painted afresh and beautified. Cleaning of the entire college premises and other measures are being supervised by Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar Mahajan, in accordance with government directives. Only a select few will be allowed entry to the program citing security reasons. The Governor will address the closing ceremony.

For the convenience of the participants, patchwork has been done on the route. The sunken manhole covers of the sewerage system were leveled. After repairing the divider outside the Municipal Corporation, it is being painted white and black according to traffic rules. PSPCL staff are also working to ensure proper street lighting on both sides of the road to prevent any security breach.

It’s believed that the Governor's initiative will bring about some awareness in Abohar, a city that has been notorious for drug abuse. Almost in each week for the past few months, cases against young men using heroin laced silver foil paper and Rs 10 note besides dope tests found positives are being registered at the police stations
