KHARGA CORPS CELEBRATES ITS 53RD RAISING DAY

53rd Raising Day of Kharga Corps was celebrated at Ambala Cantonment. Lieutenant General Rajesh Pushkar, General Officer Commanding (GoC), Kharga Corps, on behalf of all ranks of the Corps, paid homage by a wreath laying ceremony at “Vijay Smarak” in remembrance of the ultimate sacrifice for the motherland by the brave heroes of the Corps. The GoC conveyed his felicitations and best wishes to all ranks, veterans, civil employees and families of Kharga Corps on the occasion.

(SUBHEAD)The GoC in his address said that the headquarters of the Kharga Corps was raised on 06 October, 1971 at Krishnanagar in West Bengal and was immediately baptized by fire in 'OPERATION CACTUS LILY' in 1971.

The Corps in true manifestation of its emblem “Kharga of Maa Kali”, the ultimate weapon symbolising destruction of enemy in the battlefield lived upto its name and was instrumental in creating a new country, 'BANGLADESH'. Kharga Corps, “Imposer of National Will” is a battle hardened outfit with significant contribution in various military operations of Indian Army apart from Humanitarian and Disaster Relief operations carried out as part of 'Aid to Civil Authority' during natural calamities.
