PUNJABI CULTURAL COUNCIL, WORLD GATKA FEDERATION CONGRATULATE DHESI FOR WINNING PARLIAMENT ELECTION IN UK

The Punjabi Cultural Council (PCC) and the World Gatka Federation (WGF) have extended warm congratulations to Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi and Preet Kaur Gill on their resounding re-elections in the recent UK general elections. The Labour Party's landslide victory on Friday has secured significant representation in the UK House of Commons.

(MOREPIC1) (SUBHEAD)In a statement, Harjeet Singh Grewal, Chairman of the Punjabi Cultural Council and a state award winner, has expressed immense pride in the historic achievement of the Sikh community in these elections. He informed that a record ten Sikh members have been elected to the parliament, including five women and five men, all representing the Labour Party.

Notably, Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi from the Slough constituency and Preet Kaur Gill from Birmingham Edgbaston have been re-elected for the second consecutive time, continuing their dedicated advocacy for Sikhs and broader community issues within the UK parliament. Additionally, eight newly-elected Sikh MPs are entering parliament for the first time, marking a significant milestone for our community.

Meanwhile, Baljit Singh, General Secretary of the World Gatka Federation, has conveyed heartfelt thanks to the British voters and supporters for placing their trust in Sikh leaders who champion change, unity, and progress in Britain.

In this message the PCC and WGF have commended the dedication and hard work of all the newly-elected MPs and anticipated their continued efforts in representing and advocating for the Sikh community and broader societal issues. They wished them great success in their ongoing service to the people of the UK and the Punjabi community.
