TO PREVENT EVASION OF TAX , EXCISE DEPTT. WITH EDUCATION DEPARTMEMT INSPECTED BOOKS AND STATIONARY SHOPS

To prevent the evasion of tax and ensure compliance of the GST provisions, including that of issuing bills to customers with due tax,  Excise and Taxation Department alongwith the U.T. Education Department carried out the inspection of Books and Stationary shops in Chandigarh jointly.

Following the inspection, in order to review in detail the status of compliance, Excise-Taxation Dept issued Show Cause Notices to 9 booksellers and uniform dealers. Directions were also issued to the taxpayers to comply with the issuance of invoices as per GST Act, 2017.

Excise-Taxation Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh said that Book & uniform sellers have been advised by the Excise-Taxation Department to issue bills with correct tax to all customers. He also said if any customer is not given bills by any of the Book & Uniform sellers then he must inform to Excise-Taxation Department UT Chandigarh at the earliest.
