WITHOUT THE PARTICIPATION OF VOTERS, THE DEMOCRATIC SYSTEM CANNOT BE STRENGTHENED- ANURAG AGARWAL

Face2News/Chandigarh

Haryana Chief Electoral Officer, Sh. Anurag Agarwal said that the general elections of the Lok Sabha held after every 5 years are a part of the Indian tradition, recognised as the strongest democratic system in the world. It is not possible to maintain this pride of the country without exercising the franchise of voters. Therefore, every voter should use their vote and contribute to this virtue.

He said that the Election Commission conducts elections fairly and transparently through the Chief Electoral Officers of all the states and Union Territories. From a security perspective apart from the state police, companies of central armed forces are also deployed in the Lok Sabha elections. For the Lok Sabha elections in Haryana in 2024, 15 companies of central armed forces will be deployed, including 10 CRPF and 5 ITBP companies. The preparations for the initial phase of the elections have been completed. A review meeting has also been held regarding the deployment of companies. The Election Commission of India has also held meetings with election observers to provide necessary guidance, he added.

Sh. Agarwal said that “conducting elections fairly is our top priority. We are committed to fulfilling this and the police and excise departments are also conducting special checks”. So far, illicit liquor and narcotics worth about Rs. 5 crores have been seized.
