Police achieved a major success by solving a blind murder case with the arrest of the accused within 7 hours after the incident, by a joint team of Police Station-49 and District Crime Cell under the guidance of Smt. Kanwardeep Kaur, IPS, W/SSP/UT, Sh. Mridul, IPS W/SP/City and close supervision of Sh. Dalbir Singh, SDPO, South and under the leadership of Inspector Jasbir Singh, SHO/PS 49 and Inspector Jasminder Singh, I/C District Crime Cell, Chd
Case FIR No.13 dated 10.03.2024 U/s 302, 34 IPC, PS-49 Chandigarh has been registered on the complaint of Smt. Rekha w/o Sh. Ramdhin R/o H No. 4925/3 Sector 38 West Age 43 Years Chandigarh.
On 10.03.204 at about 08:35 Am, a wireless message from control room was received that a person was lying near H No. 1533, Sector 51B Chandigarh.
Acting upon this information, a team led by Inspector Jasbir Singh, SHO PS 49, along with Police Party reached on the spot i.e. Back side Road Indian Enclave Society, Sector 51B Chandigarh, where a person was lying on road near Electricity Poll No. 21 side. On inspection of body, it found that two belts were wrapped on the neck of dead body and blood was also found on his mouth.
During inspection, Photography and Videography of spot was conducted. The spot was inspected by the CFSL team. In the meantime Smt. Rekha w/o Sh. Ramdhin R/o H No. 4925/3 Sector 38 West Age 43 Years Chandigarh reached at the spot and identified the body as her son namely Ajit S/o Ramdin R/o H No. 4925/3 Sector 38 West Chandigarh age- 23 Years, who got recorded her statement that she is residing at the above cited address and doing work of collecting garbage. She has six children including five sons and a daughter
Today, she came to know that body of her son namely Ajit has found lying on back side road India Enclave, Sector-51B Chandigarh and reached the spot, where she identified the dead body of her son Ajit lying in the Ambulance.
That, under the guidance of Smt. Kanwardeep Kaur, IPS, W/SSP/UT and Sh. Mridul, IPS, W/SP/City and under the close supervision of Sh. Dalbir Singh, DSP/South, a team led by Inspector Jasbir Singh, SHO/PS 49 and inspector Jasminder Singh, IC DCC was constituted, who gathered the information and managed to arrest the accused Vimal S/o Satya Dev R/o Phase 7 market Baranda Age 23 years Permanent Address – Village Badadiwala Kallan PS Gangaghat, Unao UP from near Naala back side Chandigarh Police Society, Sector 51, Chd.

Motive It disclosed that the deceased Ajit had quarrel with the accused Vimal in the past and beaten him up. Hence, the accused had grudge against the victim.
Modus Operindi – The accused Vimal took the victim Ajit (deceased) along with him on the pretext of committing theft in the area of Sector 51, Chd, where the accused thrashed and strangulated the victim to take revenge.
