BANKS TOLD TO ENSURE TIMELY AND EXPEDITIOUS DISPOSAL OF LOAN APPLICATIONS OF PRIORITY SECTOR BENEFICIARIES

The 56th District Consultative Committee (DCC) and District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meetings of District Fazilka for the quarter ended 31 March 2026 were held under the chairmanship of Jagwinderjit Singh Grewal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development), Fazilka.

The meeting, convened by Biswajit Maitra, Lead District Manager (LDM), Fazilka, was attended by Surinder Kumar, Assistant General Manager, Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Prashant Baloda, District Development Manager (DDM), NABARD and other officers.
Grewal emphasized the need for expeditious disposal of loan applications of beneficiaries under the priority sector, particularly those sponsored by Punjab Scheduled Castes Land Development and Finance Corporation (PSCLDFC), Punjab State Rural Livelihood Mission (PSRLM) Self-Help Groups, Dairy Development Department, Animal Husbandry Department, and Fisheries Department, with the objective of strengthening financial inclusion in the district.

Biswajit Maitra, LDM, reviewed the achievements under Priority Sector Lending and deliberated on various agenda items. He highlighted the deployment of Business Correspondent Agents (BCAs), including Women BCAs, under the National Strategy for Financial Inclusion (NSFI) 2025–2030. He also informed the house about the organization of awareness camps by bank branches under the Khet Bachao Abhiyan and the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) Saturation Drive being undertaken by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, Govt of India.

He advised the banks to ensure compliance with the use of Masked Aadhaar for KYC and Re-KYC purposes. He further reiterated that all education loan applications should be mandatorily processed through the Vidya Lakshmi Portal as per the directives of the Department of Higher Education, Govt of India. Surinder Kumar, AGM, RBI and Prashant Baloda, DDM, NABARD also spoke.
