Raj Sadosh/Abohar.
Bharatiya Janata Party will start ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Sankalp Yatra’ from Asafwala, the sacred land of war martyrs, near Fazilka on 20th September. Punjab BJP General Secretary Jeevan Garg reached Abohar today and discussed in detail with the party leaders at the residence of MLA Sandeep Jakhar the increasing prevalence of drug addiction in Punjab and the efforts being made to keep the youth away from drugs. BJP District President Kaka Kamboj, former minister Surjit Kumar Jyani, Vandana Sangwal were present.
The yatra will reach different areas of Punjab and will work to unite the society against drug menace by making people aware about the ill effects of drug addiction. Especially the youth and their families will be given a message to increase public participation to make Punjab drug free.
MLA Sandeep Jakhar said that the biggest strength of Punjab is the young generation, but today drug addiction has become a serious challenge for the state. In the last four and a half years, there has been no significant improvement in the situation regarding the drug problem in Punjab and the government has failed to effectively curb the menace. The fight against drugs is not just a fight for any one political party, but for the entire society. Through this campaign, BJP will create a strong mass movement against drug addiction by involving common people, NGOs, youth and all sections of society. He said that the objective of ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Sankalp Yatra’ is to give a safe future to the young generation of Punjab. After starting from Fazilka, the yatra will be taken to other areas of Punjab.
