Punjab Minister Barinder Goyal today inaugurated the development works related to new mogas and water channels to provide better canal irrigation facilities to the farmers at villages Chanan Khera and Balluana villages. MLA Balluana Amandeep Singh Goldy Musafir accompanied the minister.

In Chanan Khera, about 90 km of canals have been constructed at a cost of Rs. 21.46 crore, which will provide irrigation facilities to 23000 acres of agricultural land. Similarly, at village Balluana, canals have been expanded at a cost of Rs. 2.68 crore, under which the width of the canals has been increased from 4 inches to 9 inches. This work has benefited 1581 acres of agricultural land.

Barinder Goyal said that the works done at Chanan Khera and Balluana are an important step in this direction, which will directly benefit a total of 25,000 acres of agricultural area.

He said that by increasing the capacity of canals and constructing new outlets, the distribution of canal water to the fields will be smoother and more effective. This will help farmers in getting the required water for irrigation on time and will also boost agricultural production.

The Irrigation Minister said that the main objective of the government is to ensure equal and fair distribution of canal water. Along with strengthening the old irrigation infrastructure, new canals, mogas and other irrigation facilities are being constructed wherever needed.
