A young man, aged about 40 years, working as a labourer, was found dead under suspicious circumstances last night; his body was found near an over bridge close to Dhani Bashesharnath located near the city bypass here. There were injury marks on his body caused by a sharp-edged weapon. Upon receiving the information this morning, a team from City-2 police station arrived at the scene and, with the assistance of the ‘Nar Seva Narayan Seva Samiti’, had the body moved to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination. The most tragic aspect of the case is that the deceased was a father to four daughters. The police are currently scanning nearby CCTV cameras and recording statements from the family members.
According to reports, the deceased, identified as Sonu Kumar (40), used to work in orchards; he had not returned home late last night. This morning, passers-by spotted his blood-stained body near the over bridge and informed his family. The family was devastated; they rushed to the scene and, with the help of the village Panchayat, informed the police.
Ravinder Singh Bhiti, the SHO of City-2 police station arrived at the site with his team to assess the situation. Police recorded the family’s statements.
The SHO said that the surrounding area is being searched and locals are being questioned. He noted that the investigation revealed deep injury marks on the deceased’s body. A thorough investigation will be conducted to determine how and why the murder took place.
