HARYANA CRACKS DOWN ON 1,107 PRIVATE SCHOOLS, BANS FRESH ADMISSIONS

The Haryana government has launched a major crackdown on private schools operating in violation of recognition norms, blocking 1,107 private schools on the state’s Management Information System (MIS) portal and imposing an immediate ban on fresh admissions.

The action has been taken on the directions of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, with the Education Department targeting schools that failed to comply with mandatory recognition rules or did not meet prescribed standards.
According to the department, the next phase will involve physical verification of the affected schools. If serious il)rregularities are found during inspections, the government may cancel their recognition or order their closure.

Officials said the drive aims to ensure transparency, accountability and quality education in private schools across the state.
Three Categories of Schools Under Action

The Education Department stated that action has been taken against schools falling under three categories: 693 schools whose recognition could not be finally approved. 269 schools whose recognition applications were rejected by District Elementary Education Officers. 145 schools that continued to operate despite not receiving temporary recognition extension.

All these schools have been blocked on the MIS portal, preventing them from admitting new students.

Kaithal Records Highest Number of Schools : District-wise data shows that Kaithal recorded the highest number of affected schools with 162, followed by Gurugram (99), Hisar (98), Panipat (92), Bhiwani (76), Faridabad (70), Jind (67), Rohtak (63), Karnal (57) and Yamunanagar (51).

Other districts affected include Sonipat (45), Mahendragarh (33), Sirsa (30), Jhajjar (28), Charkhi Dadri (23), Kurukshetra (22), Ambala (20), Rewari (16), Palwal (16), Nuh (15), Panchkula (11) and Fatehabad (10).

The Education Department reiterated that the enforcement drive is intended to ensure that only schools complying with prescribed norms are allowed to operate in the state.
