In Sriganganagar district bordering Pakistan, till now smugglers have been dropping heroin, opium, weapons and fake currency over the fencing through plastic pipes, cloth bags and drones. For the first time, huge quantities of synthetic drugs-methamphetamine (ice drugs) have been dropped in Indian Territory.
Superintendent of Police Hari Shankar Yadav said that a plastic packet was found in a field in Chak 8-C village of Hindumalkot. The packet contained two illuminating sticks, copper wire and plastic tape. 206 grams of Ice MD drugs were recovered from inside. On the report of police station in-charge Inspector Sunil Khod, a case has been registered against unknown persons under the NDPS Act.
According to police sources, this is the first case of HD/MD drugs being found on the international border of Sriganganagar district. A suspicious plastic packet was seen in the field of Chak 8-C. The farmer immediately informed the soldiers at the nearby BSF border post. BSF took possession of the packet and informed the local police. Upon opening the packet, checking with a test kit confirmed that the substance was a strong type of synthetic ice drugs (MD).
Police are investigating which outsiders visited village Chak 8-C and surrounding area in the past few days. The cybercrime team is investigating the tower dump records. Earlier, opium and heroin were being dropped from Pakistan. Now smuggling of extremely dangerous synthetic drugs like MD has started. This change is a new challenge for the border security agencies. Police and BSF are increasing surveillance in the area.
