A library will be constructed in the name of Comrade Wadhawa Ram, who was the first MLA of Fazilka after India got Independence. He was elected to the Punjab Assembly in 1952 as an independent candidate getting 10,991 votes which spoke of his popularity among the people.
While laying the foundation stone for the library, Fazilka MLA Narinderpal Singh Sawna said that a befitting memorial to the former legislator was coming up after about seven decades.
MLA Sawna said that numerous such development initiatives are currently underway. He emphasized that the primary objective of the Punjab Government is to elevate the standard of education and eradicate unemployment in the state. In line with this, while government schools are being modernized and equipped with essential infrastructure, libraries are also being established to help the youth secure high-level positions in both the public and private sectors. These facilities will provide a dedicated space where young people can prepare for such career opportunities under one roof, ultimately bringing pride to their parents and the entire district.
Sawna said that the Punjab Government has carried out a wide range of development works during its tenure thus far. Members and various office-bearers of the Comrade Wadhawa Ram Memorial Committee were also present on the occasion.
